The clock is ticking for the Phoenix Suns as the team tries to figure out a way to keep Goran Dragic. The veteran point guard has let his intentions to leave the team in free agency become well known, but owner Robert Sarver is holding onto hope he’ll stay with the team long-term.

According to Sean Deveney of Sporting News, the Suns will continue to field trade offers for Isaiah Thomas rather than try to trade Dragic:
Suns holding firm to preference for Isaiah Thomas trade, Im told. Dragic supposed to be heir to Steve Nash, Sarver wants to keep it that way

At this point in time, the Suns appear to be going in the wrong direction with Sarver unwilling to simply part ways with Dragic. The Slovenian wants out and will control his own fate this summer meaning Phoenix will likely lose him for nothing in return if they don’t trade him before today’s deadline.
The best bet for the Suns would be cut their losses and continue with Eric Bledsoe and Thomas in the backcourt. Even with Dragic gone, Phoenix has a very talented pair of point guards and could be playoff contenders for years to come.
With a little less than an hour and a half left before the buzzer sounds on the NBA trade deadline, it’ll be interesting to see the end results of the Dragic saga in Phoenix.
