The Kevin Love sweepstakes has begun. The Minnesota Timberwolves know that Love has no intention to sign a contract extension with team and as a result, a trade may be on the horizon.
According to Sean Deveney of Sporting News, Minnesota might be working on a deal to trade Love on the day of the 2014 NBA draft:Publicly, the Timberwolves are saying they expect Love to be in training camp with the team next fall. But behind the scenes, as one source put it, the Timberwolves are, “paving the way to make something happen sooner rather than later.” Sooner, of course, would be draft night.
With all the talk about Love visiting Boston over the weekend, the rumors have started to circulate about the star forward wanting to land with the Celtics. Boston has some trade assets that might intrigue the Timberwolves and the Celtics have been mentioned as a possible destination for the three-time All-Star in free agency.
Boston isn’t the only team hopeful to make a deal with Minnesota as plenty of other trade partners have surfaced over the past few weeks. The Los Angeles Lakers have been linked to Love more than most teams, but with few trade assets, it is unclear if a deal is realistic.

The Golden State Warriors and Houston Rockets have also been rumored as potential trade partners for Minnesota. Both teams are on the cusp being legitimate title contenders and the addition of Love would definitely give either team a much needed boost possibly making them the favorite in the Western Conference next season.
Love leaving Minnesota appears inevitable at this point, but it remains to be seen if it’ll be through a trade or in free agency next summer.
