NBA Will Not Change Lamar Odom Trade Rule

A Lamar Odom and Los Angeles Lakers reunion has been talked about for quite some time, but it looks like something like that will not be occurring anytime soon.

Lakers Nation reported that the Mavericks are trying to trade Odom to the Lakers sometime within in the next few weeks, but if that doesn’t happen, Odom may not be a Laker for a while.

Under the new CBA, a player traded before the 2011-12 season cannot sign with his old team until one year after the transaction.

Previously, a player could sign with his former team one month after being traded, but that is no longer allowed.

If Odom wants to make his way back to the Lakers, he will have to wait six weeks of the 2012-13 NBA season.
