Nick Young On Lakers Offensive Identity: ‘I Don’t Believe We Have One’

The Los Angeles Lakers offense has had its moments during the 2015-16 NBA season, but for the most part, it has been a disappointment.

Both players and coaches have preached ball movement, but most of the Lakers possessions seem to end in isolation for Kobe Bryant, Jordan Clarkson, or any other player on the floor at that time.

The lack of offensive identity for the Lakers is apparent and after practice, Nick Young agreed that the team lacks an identity and noted that so many one-on-one players is making the offense stagnant via Lakers Nation’s YouTube Channel:

“Right now, I don’t believe we have one. I think we’re a lot of one-on-one players, including myself, and I think that’s one of the major parts of why our offense is so stagnant.”

Young also believes that all of the losses the Lakers are taking this season is causing the team to lose themselves:

“The more we lose, we’re losing ourselves and I think we got to get back to just being a team, talking, and having fun and not putting so much pressure on ourselves. Just go out there and play the game we’ve been playing forever.”

Despite their 2-12 record, the Lakers have been within striking distance in the majority of their games only to fall apart down the stretch. That is normal for a young team, but so many losses are sure to take their toll at some point.

One way to fix that and get some wins is to improve their offense. Ball and player movement have been mostly non-existent for the Lakers. While there are many other issues, getting that together will at least begin to turn some things around.
