Nick Young did not have a good season for the Los Angeles Lakers in any way. In addition to dealing with injuries and clashing at times with head coach Byron Scott, Young shot a career-low from the field this season.

In classic Young fashion, however, he had a very good idea as to why he struggled to knock down shots this season according to Lakers reporter Mike Trudell:
Swaggy P discussing his shooting struggles this season: "I blame it on the rim. The rim was tripping this year."

Young shot only 36.6 percent from the field and had a higher percentage from three-point range than he did from two-point range. Young also took far more long jumpers this season and attacked the rim less.
Though Young said that the two were on the same page, he was still criticized on a number of occasions by Byron Scott who wanted him to do more on the court besides score. Furthermore, there are rumors circulating that the Lakers will be entertaining offers for Young this summer.
Players who are known strictly for scoring tend to come under a lot of criticism when their shot isn’t falling and that was the case for Young this season. If he returns to the Lakers next season, he may be looking into making sure the rims at Staples Center are exactly how they should be so he can get back on track.
