Nick Young Wants To ‘Demand Getting The Ball More’ Toward End Of Games

The frustration continues to build for the Los Angeles Lakers with the team losing the first game of a four-game home stand on Sunday night at the Staples Center. Byron Scott’s squad was able to force overtime against the visiting Denver Nuggets, but in the end, failed to seal the deal resulting in their 11th loss of the season.

Although the team continues to struggle, Nick Young’s presence has given the Lakers a boost off the bench. Unfortunately, Young had a rough night on Sunday going 2-for-12 against the Nuggets.

In the final seconds against Denver, Kobe Bryant tried to lead the team to a fourth win on the season. Bryant took a few extremely difficult shots with the game on the line and missed.

Young admits he’s got to get more aggressive demanding the ball late in games to help shoulder the load for Kobe, via Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

In Young’s first two games back, the veteran guard/forward scored 17 points off the bench and helped guide the Lakers to consecutive wins against the Atlanta Hawks and Houston Rockets. Since then, Los Angeles has lost two straight with a 34-point blowout to the Dallas Mavericks and last night’s overtime loss to Denver.

It is becoming more and more apparent the team can’t solely rely on Kobe this season. The five-time NBA champion continues to lead the league in scoring, but it hasn’t helped the team win more than three games thus far.
