Recently Lakers Nation was fortunate enough to attend Operation Gratitude, which is a function held by the Lakers to help with some of the United States military troops that are currently stationed overseas. The event took place at the California National Guard Armory, and allowed members of the Lakers organization and numerous other volunteers to put together care packages for the men and women of the U.S. military that are currently stationed overseas.

At the event we ran into new Lakers head coach Mike Brown, who was there with his family looking to help give back to the troops. Brown spoke about how the military is especially important to him, as his father served for over 20 years.

This event is also a great way to help teach local youth the importance of giving back to the community and the troops. For the men and women that dedicate their lives to serving in the military it is important that they realize how their efforts are appreciated by the rest of the country. Through events like Operation Gratitude it is possible to show that appreciation. It is also a great way to teach young children today just how important it is to show support for their country and their overseas troops.
