Optimistic News After Tuesday’s Labor Meeting

The NBA and players union had a brief two-hour labor meeting today in New York City, and all signs point a successful negotiation session. Although previous gatherings lasted for nearly six hours, today’s session was much shorter but the sides seemed to have made major progress. After discussing the concepts of the new CBA, the parties agreed to end the meeting and talk among themselves.

David Aldridge Twitter: “Stern: no one walked out. Possible mtgs on Fri if there is progress Wed . Both sides need to discuss “concepts” discussed today.”

Many believe the sides made a substantial amount of progress in today’s meeting and that is why they decided to talk about the concept internally. Reporters at the the labor meeting said Commissioner David Stern was in a “good mood” and was “affable” once the session ended.

Although there is still an NBA lockout looming over the league, this latest news hints at a possible agreement which will bring back professional basketball.
