Pau Gasol Happy to See Brother Marc Succeed With Grizzlies

NBA: Memphis Grizzlies at Los Angeles LakersThe Memphis Grizzlies are facing elimination tonight against the San Antonio Spurs, and there is a chance the Memphis fans see the Spurs advance to the NBA Finals on their home court.

The Grizzlies have surprised many people with their Western Conference run, and center Marc Gasol has played a great role in the franchise’s revitalization. Marc, younger brother of Lakers’ player Pau, was traded to the franchise in a deal that involved Pau, and at the time not many people saw Marc’s potential.

However, after winning the 2012-13 Defensive Player of the Year award, Marc is developing into one of the best centers in the league. Pau spoke to USA Today and talked about what it means to see his brother succeed with the Grizzlies.

“It’s emotional, but of course I’m happy,” Pau Gasol told USA TODAY Sports during the game. “I’m enjoying seeing him play so well and the team do so well. It’s a good feeling as a big brother.

Pau was in the attendance for the Grizzlies’ Game 3 loss to the Spurs in a match that saw Marc score 16 points and grab 14 rebounds. After being the face of the franchise before joining the Lakers, it is definitely a great feeling for Pau to see his brother guide the Grizzlies to their first ever Western Conference appearance.
