Pau Gasol Thinks He May Have Come Back Too Early From Vertigo

Pau Gasol made his return tonight from a bout with vertigo, scoring nine points in the team’s loss to the Portland Trail Blazers.

While the team was happy to have him back on the floor, Gasol did not seem like himself in his first game back. According to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters, Gasol himself wonders if he came back too soon from his illness:

Gasol grabbed only four rebounds and took one free throw on the night which points to a lack of aggressiveness from the big man. Obviously, it takes a little time to get back used to the speed of the game, even after only a week off, but Gasol simply was not the same.

Even simple things, like turning his head quickly were problems for Gasol, as reported by Winters:

With the Lakers set for another game tomorrow night against the Sacramento Kings, Gasol’s status for that game is uncertain at this time.

Players are always trying to get back on the court as quickly as possible to help their team. This often leads to guys rushing back to the court, which can, in turn, hurt the team and player more than it helps them.

Gasol should be applauded for trying to come back even though the season is a lost one for the Lakers, but he will have to make sure he is 100 percent before getting back on the floor again.
