Phil Jackson Reached Out to Lamar Odom During Tough Time

Former Los Angeles Laker, Lamar Odom, is having a tough season on and off the floor. First he is facing issues adjusting with his new team and his horrible off-season has left him mentally hurt. The pain from the off-court issues has made Odom so distracted that he was thinking about taking a season off.

However, there are people who have been comforting Lamar Odom through these tough times, including former Lakers coach Phil Jackson, writes Kurt Helin of Pro Basketball Talk.

“He told me just to be strong and get
myself together and get myself in that place mentally where I can use basketball as my sanctuary,” Odom said. “He said relearn to do that through meditation and other forms to get to a place where you kind of leave everything else behind and focus on the now, the moment. And that’s what I have to work on in order to put myself in a place where I can go out here and actually play the game like I used to play it.”

Odom needs do whatever it takes to get back into the right mentality and help his new team. He can be a great asset for the Mavericks and everyone would love to see him succeed in his new home.

Lamar Odom will return to Los Angeles tonight and it will be interesting to see how he and the Lakers fans react.
