Almost a month later, the police in Philadelphia may have caught the man suspected of killing Ellington’s father, according to Eric Pincus of the Los Angeles Times:

On Thursday, Philadelphia police arrested the man believed to have killed Wayne Ellington Sr., 57, father of Lakers guard Wayne Ellington Jr.

The identity of the suspect was released by the Associated Press, via Pincus:

According to the Associated Press, 34-year old Philadelphia resident Carl White has been charged with murder.

As if dealing with a winless season wasn’t hard enough on the veteran journeyman, Ellington learned of his father’s murder immediately after the Lakers got their first win of the season against the Charlotte Hornets.

Ellington left the team to be with his family after the win over the Hornets missing a total of six games, but has since returned playing in the last seven games for the Lakers.
