Poll Results: Reactions to Proposed Bynum, Gasol Trade for Howard

When news broke this morning that Dwight Howard trade rumors had once again bubbled to the surface, fans and media members clamored for more information. Once Adrian Wojnarowski of Yahoo! Sports revealed that the proposed deal involved the Lakers sending Andrew Bynum and Pau Gasol out of town in exchange for Howard and Denver Nuggets forward Al Harrington, however, bedlam broke out all over the internet.

We asked members of Lakers Nation how they feel about possibly losing both Gasol and Bynum in exchange for Howard, and the results were fairly  one-sided.

Out of the nearly 3,000 people who voted in the poll, over 2,100 of them voted that the Lakers would be giving up too much if they lost both their big men in exchange for Howard. Only 250 people thought that it would still make sense if the team could land the Orlando center, while 500-plus others believe that it could be a good deal for Los Angeles depending on who else they would receive in exchange for Gasol and Bynum.

If this deal goes through as currently constructed, there’s no question the Lakers would be giving up quite a bit in exchange for Howard. They would, however, be saving approximately $10 million on their bloated salary cap by bringing back Al Harrington, which is the proposed deal as of now.
