Rare Footage Of Kobe Bryant Dunking In High School All-Star Game

It’s not every day you come across some footage of Kobe Bryant you haven’t seen before. The following clip is from the Gym Rat Midnight Madness High School Showcase in 1995 (the video says 1994, which is incorrect) when Kobe was 17-years-old.

It begins with Kobe receiving a pass off of a steal and finishing a pretty reverse layup, while being fouled (typical) and knocking down the free throw. Further along in the video, Kobe gets free on a fast break and throws down a sick in between the legs dunk that forces the crowd to erupt.

It’s interesting that Kobe is wearing number 32, Magic’s number, well before he announced that he’d leave for the NBA and eventually play for the Lakers. The footage, obviously, is a little grainy, but is actually great quality considering the time at which it was filmed.
