Report: Former Lakers Coaches Find Jobs in China

According to Xinhua News, three former Los Angeles Lakers assistant coaches have found jobs in China. Jim Cleamons, Daniel Mauro Panaggio and Kurt Rambis have landed gigs in the Chinese Basketball Association and hope to implement the Triangle Offense.

The NBA is still battling a lockout and who knows when the gates will open. Thus Cleamons, Panaggio and Rambis thought it would be better to travel overseas and coach basketball rather than to wait around for the lockout to end.

Cleamons signed a one-year deal with Zhejiang Guangsha, a team that made the playoffs the previous year but was unable to win the championship. With the addition of Wilson Chandler and Josh Boone, Guangsha hopes the signing of Cleamons will bring them to the top.

As for Panaggio and Rambis, they decided to join the Shanghai Sharks. The Sharks are owned by former NBA center Yao Ming and he hopes the addition of these coaches will help improve the team. The Sharks were near the bottom of the league due to their young roster, but the front office hopes the Triangle Offense will fix that.
