Ron Artest Hopes to be Traded From Lakers

According to ESPN’s Marc Stein, Lakers’ starting forward Ron Artest hopes to be traded from the team that helped him win his first NBA championship just eight months ago.

After increasing turmoil in the Lakers locker room and front office, general manager Mitch Kupchak announced his plans to make a trade if one presented itself that he believed would help the team. What most people didn’t expect was a member of the Lakers to actually hope that he would be the one traded.

Artest was the hero for the Lakers last season in the playoffs, particularly in Game 5 against Phoenix in the Western Conference Finals and Game 7 against the Celtics in the NBA Finals. His contributions helped the Lakers secure their second straight championship over their arch-rivals from Boston.

Ron Artest has had a history of issues with every team he’s played for, and it looks like his relationship with the Lakers might be heading down the same path.
