RUMOR: Rajon Rondo Has Told Boston Celtics He ‘Wants Out’

In a recent episode of ESPN’s Around the Horn, Jackie MacMullan suggested Rajon Rondo has already informed the Boston Celtics that he wants out via Mass Live:

When Frank Isola raised the topic of trading Rondo, MacMullan replied, “Oh, I hope so. Just get it done. And it will happen because he’s told them he wants out. And no one believes me, but that’s the truth.”

While Frank Isola brought up the Los Angeles Clippers as a potential destination, MacMullan shared head coach Doc Rivers does not like Rondo and the team already has Chris Paul:

“He doesn’t like Rondo, remember that,” MacMullan said. “I mean, he’s done with Rondo. They went a good, long way together, but that guy — Rondo drives him nuts. And then (the Clippers have) Chris Paul anyway, they don’t need him.”

Since the Celtics started their rebuild last season, there have been conflicting reports on Rondo’s interest in remaining with the franchise. The point guard has reportedly supported the franchise that traded for him back at the 2006 NBA Draft, but has also been linked to the Los Angeles Lakers, New York Knicks, and Sacramento Kings.

Before the NBA Draft this past June, there were rumors the Lakers were interested in shipping Steve Nash and the seventh overall draft pick for Rondo. However, the Lakers ultimately decided to use the pick to select Kentucky’s Julius Randle and traded for Jeremy Lin during free agency.
