Rumors: Timberwolves Rejected Trade Offer for Andrew Bynum

The Los Angeles Lakers finally let go of their long time center Andrew Bynum in a trade involving Dwight Howard. Bynum will now play in Philadelphia, whereas Howard will be taking his talents to Los Angeles. However, according to reports, the Lakers were looking to trade Bynum to the Twin Cities instead of the City of Brotherly Love.

The Minnesota Timberwolves have put together a very talented team this summer and their future with Kevin Love, Ricky Rubio, Brandon Roy and Andrei Kirilenko looks very bright. However, some say the Wolves could have added Andrew Bynum to their nucleus, but the front office rejected the offer, according to CBS Sports.

Twin-Cities.com reports that the Wolves rejected an offer for Andrew Bynum. Further terms of the trade aren’t known, so it could have been “Give us Ricky Rubio and Kevin Love for Bynum”

Many teams would make a strong push for Bynum if possible, but it is safe to say that the Lakers may have asked for too much. The Wolves have a team built for the years to come and they weren’t prepared to give up one of their promising players in order to get Bynum.

The reports also show that the Lakers were looking to shop Bynum even if Howard did not come back to Los Angeles in return. If Bynum was to be sent to the Wolves the Lakers would have likely gotten Love and another player in return, instead of the dynamic Dwight Howard.

Everyone believed that the Lakers would keep Bynum with the only exception being a trade involving Howard; however, it seems as though Jim Buss was ready to say farewell to his prodigy.
