But how many triple doubles does Russell Westbrook have?
Whether you know him as The Brodie, Russ, Beastbrook or Mr. Triple Double (as one of the all-time triple double leaders in the NBA with 181 triple-doubles) Russell Westbrook has made quite the name for himself as an NBA legend.
Russell Westbrook Early Life
Russell Westbrook’s love for basketball began in his adolescence and carried on to his teen years, where he played point guard for Leuzinger High School. He was on the smaller side, standing 5 feet 8 inches tall when he began playing for the team. It wasn’t until the summer before his senior year that he grew to 6 feet 3 inches when he really began to show up on the court.
During high school, Westbrook was recruited to the UCLA Bruins, where he played for two years. He entered the 2008 draft, but continued his studies at the University of California.
Russell Westbrook NBA Career
Westbrook entered his NBA career when he was selected with the fourth overall pick in the draft by the Seattle SuperSonics. Six days later, he would join the Oklahoma City Thunder where he would begin to show off his triple-double skills that earned him a spot on the NBA All-Rookie First Team. Westbrook would spend the first 11 years of his career dedicated to the OKC Thunder, playing more All-Star Games and adding an impressive amount of triple doubles to his accolades.
In 2019, Westbrook got traded to the Houston Rockets and impressed fans into 2020, when he became the third player in NBA history to score 19,000 points, and complete 6,000 rebounds, and 7,000 assists.
By the end of 2020, Westbrook found himself playing for a new team: The Washington Wizards before making his way to the Los Angeles Lakers. Here, he continues to destroy records and make a name for himself well into his basketball career. He’s the first LA Laker to come off the bench and put up multiple triple doubles, and he’s also in the top 30 players on the all-time scoring list.
How many rings does Russell Westbrook have? Currently zero, but there’s still plenty of time to meet this achievement and for Russell Westbrook’s career stats to improve as well.
Russell Westbrook Trade
While Russel Westbrook was seemingly content with his place on the Lakers, he was recently traded to the Utah Jazz after rumors that he could potentially be traded to the Orlando Magic.
The trade was the result of a three-team, eight-player deal – Minnesota gained Mike Conley and Nickeil Alexander-Walker from Utah, as well as three second-round picks in the NBA draft. But he won’t be fully separated from old teammates; the Lakers are also sending Juan Toscano-Anderson, Damian Jones and their first-round pick in 2027 to Utah with Westbrook.
