Mired in a five-game losing streak, the Los Angeles Lakers are back on the court Friday night to play the shorthanded Charlotte Bobcats.

The Bobcats are 3-2 in their last five games and 20-27 overall.  Bobcats point guard Kemba Walker is going to miss his sixth-straight game after he suffered a setback in his recovery from an ankle injury.

As for the Lakers, they will still be without the services of Steve Blake, Jordan Farmar and Steve Nash. Pau Gasol injured his hamstring in the 12-point loss on Tuesday to the Indiana Pacers and was held out of practice on Thursday, but will be available on Friday.

With 11 losses in the month of January, a loss on Friday would be the first time the Lakers have dropped 12 or more games in one calendar month since Feb. 1964.

Despite their sub .500 record, the Bobcats are currently in eighth place in the Eastern Conference.  Meanwhile at 16-30, the Lakers are in second to last place in the Western Conference.

The Lakers and Bobcats last met on Dec. 14, which resulted in a 88-85 Lakers victory.
