Shootaround Report: Steve Blake May Return Tuesday

The Lakers may have a star-studded roster, but injuries have halted their development process. The Lakers third and fourth string point guards are playing starter-worthy minutes, and there is still no set time-table for Steve Nash’s return. It was revealed earlier today that Steve Nash has not been able to jog since his initial injury, and that he will be reevaluated on Monday.

With Steve Nash out over the past couple of weeks, Steve Blake should’ve been given adequate time to develop and get accustomed to the new offensive scheme. Unfortunately, since Blake left a Nov. 11 game with an abdomen strain, his injury has seemed a bit more severe than initially thought and he has sat out the past five games.

According to Mark Medina of the L.A. Daily News, assuming Steve Blake runs through a successful practice Monday, he is expected to play in Tuesday’s match up against the Indiana Pacers.

The Lakers are coming off a tough 113-97 loss against the Sacramento Kings and have a tough upcoming schedule, including tonight’s game against the Memphis Grizzlies. After another back to back game tomorrow against the Dallas Mavericks, the Lakers will finally return home to host the Indiana Pacers on Tuesday. Although Darius Morris and Chris Duhon have stepped it up in both Nash and Blake’s absence, their return is clearly pertinent to the development of D’Antoni’s new offense.
