Steve Nash Dealing With Similar Issues From Last Season

UPDATE (October 15, 1:43 PM PST): According to Byron Scott, Steve Nash suffered another setback carrying his bags and did not practice according to Mike Bresnahan of the Los Angeles Times:

On Sunday, Steve Nash sat out the second half in the 116-75 loss to the Golden State Warriors. While it was initially reported as Nash just resting, it was later revealed that the point guard is dealing with a “little sciatica problem” and his status for Thursday’s game is uncertain.

At Tuesday’s practice, Nash did not practice and is dealing with similar issues he was having last season according to Lakers Nation reporter Serena Winters:

While head coach Byron Scott did not rule out Nash playing on Thursday, uncertainty surrounds the former two-time Most Valuable Player once again. As a result, Scott is considering starting Jeremy Lin at point guard according to Los Angeles Times’ Mike Bresnahan:

With Scott thinking Nash would be fine with a reserve role behind Lin, the change becomes a real possibility for the Lakers. While Lin has thrived playing at a different pace with the second unit, the Lakers only have one other point guard in Ronnie Price with Jordan Clarkson currently playing shooting guard.

After a strong summer of training and two preseason games, it will be interesting to see if Nash will be able to come back from this latest setback. Before the start of the season, Nash had already declared this would be his final season in the NBA.
