Today officials from the NBA and players union met in New York City in an effort to sign a new CBA before the start of training camps. The sides gathered for nearly 5 1/2 hours, but they had little to say about what occurred in their session. NBA Commissioner David Stern had nothing to report to the media, and based on this body language it was clear that the meeting was unsuccessful. Union President Derek Fisher added by saying that “the calender is obviously not our friend.”
Luckily for NBA fans, the sides have decided to meet again next week and there is a chance they will be in communication during the weekend.

The start of the NBA season is just around the corner, and the only way a new CBA will be signed is if meetings are scheduled. Although today’s session did not go according to plan, the gathering next week may be more successful. If training camps are to begin on time, both sides must bring their best proposals next week.
