Time Warner SportsNet Signs Bill Macdonald, Stu Lantz for 2012-13

On Thursday Time Warner Cable Sports unveiled their plans for the company’s two new regional sports networks that are scheduled to debut on October 1, 2012.

Beginning next season, the network will have exclusive broadcasting rights for all Los Angeles Lakers games, as well as the L.A. Sparks and Galaxy.

With things expected to change from the way things were when KCAL and Fox Sports West ran the show, many fans are unsure what to expect. However, Time Warner has announced that there will be one very distinct similarity between the previous regime and the future.

Time Warner announced that current Lakers television broadcasters Bill Macdonald and Stu Lantz will be back next season to call the games for Time Warner Cable SportsNet. This will allow Lakers fans to hear the same voices that carried them through this season on the new network.

Lantz has been the team’s color commentator since 1987, while Macdonald is in his first year as play-by-play announcer for the team.
