True Hoop Rountable: Magic Johnson Unanimously Chosen As Greatest Point Guard

A recent roundtable was held over at ESPN and included five writers from around the TrueHoop Network, including Rob Mahoney, Jovan Buha, Beckley Mason, Rob Peterson and Royce Young. Each writer was asked to give his opinion on a series of questions concerning point guards, both current and former.

Several of the questions involved players currently in the league, and asked each writer to name their picks for the best point guard in the league, the one with the most promising future and the guard they believe is the most overrated. Many players names were thrown around, including Rajon Rondo, Derrick Rose, Russell Westbrook and many others.

The final question each player was given was to name their pick for the greatest point guard of all time. While there are many potential options, including John Stockton, Oscar Robertson and Isiah Thomas, each writer came to the same conclusion: Magic Johnson.

Their reasoning was different, but ultimately their decision was the same. There’s no question that Magic Johnson is one of the greatest players to ever take the court, but his position as the best point guard in league history is generally unanimous.
