USA Basketball Announces USA Select Team

With the Olympics inching closer and closer, most of Team USA has already been set. There are a few names left to be confirmed for the roster, but the major stars in the league are all expected to help lead the United States in their quest for another Gold medal.

Now, the USA Select Team has been officially announced. According to Kurt Helin of NBC Pro Basketball Talk, this is the squad that is brought in to scrimmage against Team USA as they prepare for the Olympics in London. The Select Team is filled with younger players, many of whom will be future Olympians. This gives those in charge of Team USA an opportunity to see how they might do in a future Olympiad.

DeMarcus Cousins – Sacramento Kings
Jeremy Lin – New York Knicks
Klay Thompson – Golden State Warriors
John Wall – Washington Wizards
DeMar DeRozan – Toronto Raptors
Kyrie Irving – Cleveland Cavaliers
Paul George – Indiana Pacers
Gordon Hayward – Utah Jazz
Kawhi Leonard – San Antonio Spurs
DeJuan Blair – San Antonio Spurs
Ryan Anderson – Orlando Magic
Taj Gibson – Chicago Bulls
Derrick Favors – Utah Jazz

The opening ceremonies for the 2012 Olympics will be held in London, England, on July 27th.
