The Los Angeles Lakers had a big decision to make at Thursday’s NBA Draft and they made that choice in taking Ohio State point guard D’Angelo Russell with the second overall pick, ahead of Duke center Jahlil Okafor.

After the selection, head coach Byron Scott spoke to the media about Russell. While he thinks Okafor will be a good center, Russell has a chance to be a superstar in the NBA. In the above video, via the Lakers Nation Youtube Page, Scott gave a glowing review on Russell.

Scott spoke about how Russell really shined in his second workout with the Lakers, a 3-on-3 workout that really showcased his playmaking abilities, as well as his leadership. Scott noted that Russell has the total package offensively and really competed on defense as well.

Scott was also quick to remind that Russell will have to earn everything with the team and prove himself to the veterans. All of this will begin in Summer League as Russell will be a part of what looks to be a loaded Lakers squad.
