VIDEO: D’Angelo Russell ‘More Than Honored’ To Play For Lakers

Shortly after D’Angelo Russell was drafted by the Los Angeles Lakers with the second overall pick in the 2015 NBA Draft, Lakers.com reporter Mike Trudell caught up with the Ohio State standout for his first interview with the rookie for Time Warner Cable SportsNet.

Trudell asked Russell a number of different questions after officially becoming the Lakers’ lottery pick. Questions varied from the opportunity to play alongside Kobe Bryant and what it’ll mean to be a Laker.

As Russell mentioned in previous interviews before being selected by the Lakers in Thursday’s draft, the 19-year-old guard can’t wait to soak up the knowledge from Bryant and is “more than honored” to be wearing purple and gold next season.

The future of the Lakers franchise is starting to come together after two straight seasons on the outside looking in on the NBA playoffs. Although there’s still a lot of work to be done in the off-season to improve the team’s roster moving forward, Los Angeles has gotten off to an incredible start with the addition of the rookie guard.
