Dwight HowardWith much of the news centered around Shaquille O’Neal’s jersey retirement tomorrow, you would have thought Dwight Howard would have been prepared for questions surrounding the event. Instead, reporters were left with over nine seconds of pin-dropping silence when Dwight Howard was asked to give his thoughts on Shaq’s jersey being hung from the rafters.

After those 10 seconds of silence, a follow up question, and a joke about needing more time, Dwight Howard then sent over his kudos.

“I’m happy for Shaq. That’s a big accomplishment for any NBA player to have their jersey retired. He’s done a lot for the Lakers organization. He’s done a lot for the NBA, and he deserves it, so I’m happy for him…When you have a career like his, that’s what you get. You get your jersey in the rafters. So, I think it’s awesome.”

Dwight Howard was then asked about what he could learn from Shaq’s initial struggles that turned into a successful career, but didn’t have much to say.

“I really don’t know what he did besides win. I was kind of too young.”
