After those 10 seconds of silence, a follow up question, and a joke about needing more time, Dwight Howard then sent over his kudos.
“I’m happy for Shaq. That’s a big accomplishment for any NBA player to have their jersey retired. He’s done a lot for the Lakers organization. He’s done a lot for the NBA, and he deserves it, so I’m happy for him…When you have a career like his, that’s what you get. You get your jersey in the rafters. So, I think it’s awesome.”
Dwight Howard was then asked about what he could learn from Shaq’s initial struggles that turned into a successful career, but didn’t have much to say.
“I really don’t know what he did besides win. I was kind of too young.”
