VIDEO: Kobe Bryant Makes Cameo Appearance In #ProudToPlay

The last year in sports has been one of barriers being broken. Jason Collins became the first openly gay player to play in an NBA game, suiting up for the Brooklyn Nets against the Lakers.

Not long after, SEC Defensive Player of the Year, Michael Sam announced he was gay and became the first openly gay player drafted in the NFL. The video of Sam hearing his name called was one of the most real things anyone will see.

As the fight for equality continues to move forward, the people at #ProudToPlay have come out with a new video featuring a number influential people including Nelson Mandela, President Barack Obama, and Kobe Bryant.

Bryant was a huge public supporter of both Collins and Sam and had some strong words in the video:

We have to be brave to step forward and declare to the rest of the world: This is who I am.
