We look back to one of the greatest shooting performances in the history of the NBA. On January 6, 2002 against the Seattle Supersonics, Kobe Bryant made 12 three pointers, including nine straight. The mark of 12 threes set a new NBA record that still stands to this day.

Bryant started the game slowly, scoring only four points in the first quarter off of two wide open dunks. However, after checking back into the game with 5:47 left in the second quarter, Bryant came out on fire. Bryant would hit six consecutive three pointers before heading to the locker room for halftime.

The Supersonics had hoped that halftime would cool Bryant’s hot hand, but he would erupt out of halftime and add five more three pointers in the third quarter. Bryant finally missed his first three pointer at attempt number 10, but his nine consecutive threes would set another NBA record.

Bryant added one more three pointer in the fourth quarter as he finished with 45 points in a 119-98 win. With Bryant out of action for over a year now, many forget just how dominating the five-time champion was. This is just one of a number of accomplishments that Bryant boasts on his impressive resume.
