After the Los Angeles Lakers beat the Minnesota Timberwolves on Friday night, and Nick Young scored in double figures (25) off the bench for the 12th consecutive game, head coach Mike D’Antoni couldn’t help but rave about the Laker that calls himself “Swaggy P.” D’Antoni spiraled into epic detail about Young’s positive energy, and a swag that “rubs off” on his teammates. Take a look at our post-game video above. Below is a transcription of D’Antoni’s entertaining, yet fully charming description of Nick Young.
“He rubs off on me and makes me happy, I know that. There’s no doubt and he’s done it a few times. When we have shootaround and the energy’s down, he’s ‘swaggy’ out there and he feels it and he starts ‘swaggin’ or something, and he starts going and he gets everybody’s energy up, and it’s not a silly energy, and sometimes you have that, it’s a good positive fun. ‘Okay it’s in the morning, it’s 10 o’clock, we’re on the east coast and it’s 7 o’clock in Los Angeles’ but you know what Swaggy’s out there doing his thing and he’s dunking and yelling at the assistant coaches and it get’s everybody up.”
When Nick Young heard that D’Antoni used his nickname as a verb, he couldn’t wipe off the cheesy grin on his face, before referring to himself as “Swaggy Rambo.” For Young’s reaction, check out the video below, and for all our post-game videos, click here.
