Video: Lakers Give Sneak Peak Of New Practice Facility

Among the new additions to the Los Angeles Lakers franchise, the team has now revealed a first-hand look at their new training facility, which is expected to be done by next summer.

The Lakers received permission to build the $80 million facilities after finalizing a deal to purchase the five-acre property in El Segundo last May. The result is a state-of-the-art facility loaded with all the amenities such as; a players lounge that comes with a barber, interior courtyard, two full courts that include seating for 750 people, and a cryogenic chamber.

The Lakers have long anticipated having a facility to call their own, and now it seems they certainly did not hold anything back. They have trained at the Toyota Sports Center since 2000, which they have had to share with their fellow Los Angeles Kings. Team president and co-owner Jeannie Buss expressed her excitement about remaining in El Segundo in a press release last year, via Lakers.com:

“We’ve been here for the past 15 years with great success, and we’re thrilled to secure the perfect spot to expand on that success and remain for many years as a part of this vibrant and growing area.”

With all the trouble the purple and gold have had with free agency in recent years, it doesn’t hurt to have a one-of-a-kind facility along with a promising young core to help entice future potential targets.
