VIDEO: Nick Young On Byron Scott, ‘He Demands More From Us’

After starting out strong against the Minnesota Timberwolves, the Los Angeles Lakers once again couldn’t figure out how to close this one out, falling 120-119 at Staples Center. The Lakers record drops to 3-13, as the Lakers have yet to win a game at home since November 9th, their only win at Staples this season.

A very frustrated Byron Scott after the game said his team lacked focus, committed “bonehead plays” and “a ton of mistakes.” After the game, Nick Young said that he understands Scott’s frustrations, that as a coach, “he demands more from us.”

Young had 16 points off the bench in 26 minutes against the Timberwolves, a team that Young knew they needed to win.

This is supposed to be a win for us tonight, playing against a wounded team, and they’re all young. We knew what we had to do tonight.

As far as how the Lakers let this one get away, after being up by as many as 11 points?

We should have stayed with what we [were] doing when we [were] winning,” Young said referring to when the Lakers were still up by eight points with five minutes remaining.

The Timberwolves then went on a 13-4, led by Mo Williams to seal their victory. As Ed Davis put it, the Lakers went away from their principles with the clock winding down, ultimately costing them the game.

Sunday will be a much tougher battle for the Lakers on Sunday at home as they face the 13-3 Toronto Raptors.
